HUNTERDON COUNTY CONTINUES TO WORK FOR THE PUBLIC

Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic, Hunterdon County’s government remains operational and is working to serve the public.  To comply with Presidential and Gubernatorial directives, the public may not access County offices in person at this time. To observe social distancing, some staff are on site at county offices, but many employees are also available remotely. The decision to take these actions is not taken lightly but is absolutely necessary to ensure the ongoing continuity of county government operations.

HUNTERDON COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICES CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

Due to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, effective Thursday, April 30, 2020 the Hunterdon County Clerk’s Office will be closed to the public, with limited exceptions. Essential County Clerk employees will report to work and will be available by phone and email. Our core work hours will be Monday-Friday, 8am-3:00pm. Our phones will be answered by staff.

COUNTY LIBRARY: - All Branches.

The Hunterdon County Library System will remain closed to the public until at lease May 4th. Due to museum closures, lending of Museum Passes has been suspended until further notice. Late fines will not be charged for any materials.

In the meantime, the library is continuing to serve the residents of our county by phone and email during normal business hours, 908-788-1434 or reference@hclibrary.us.

We are also providing numerous online resources including remote programming on the Hunterdon County Library website as well as on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

- The book drops at all locations are locked.

COVID-19 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING TRANING CENTER SUSPENSION OF COURSES

MAY 11, 2020:

The rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation is disconcerting to many of us, especially with the magnitude of unknowns. The Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center has been working diligently to monitor and adjust as necessary, not only out of concern for the health and safety of our community, but with a commitment to our first responders and our ability to support students’ academic success.

We acknowledge that prematurely opening to conduct in-person instruction can still put our responders at risk. At this time, we have decided to cancel all in-person classes through July 1, 2020. Our virtual courses will continue; they are NOT canceled during this period.  We will also be expanding our virtual course opportunities in the month June to offer a wider selection of courses. This decision was made with an abundance of caution and after significant deliberation various county departments, other Tier 1 Academies, and the State of New Jersey. 

We will keep our stakeholders updated as this situation is currently changing. Please look on our website for additional course offerings after Friday, May 15, 2020.

The Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, May 23, 2020 and Monday, May 25, 2020 for Memorial day weekend for both residents and commercial business.

HUNTERDON COUNTY TRANSFER STATION RESIDENTIAL BULK WASTE DROP OFF On Saturdays In Hunterdon County Will be REOPENING MAY 30, 2020

Regular Business Hours:  Saturdays 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.

COST: $22.00 per car.   $32.00 per SUV, van or truck.   $10.00 extra for a trailer.   

NO HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE - NO ELECTRONICS - NO HAZARDOUS WASTE

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING may still be dropped off at the Recycling Area at the Transfer Station, between the hours of 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. Residents are directed to observe social distancing when delivering recycling materials.

Social Services Division: WEBSITE

County residents who wish to apply for SNAP food assistance, or cash assistance under the Work First New Jersey program can do so online at NJHelps.org.

During this public health crisis, Social Services can conduct interviews by phone. Applicants do not need to come into the office to apply.

Residents are encouraged to call Social Services at 908-788-1300 if they have an emergency housing need.

Transportation (LINK) www.ridethelink.com:
UPDATE: 04/14/2020: Effective April 14, 2020 passengers are required to wear a facial covering while on the LINK vehicles.

LINK vehicles cannot transport passengers for COVID related testing including the test site at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). The RVCC testing site will not allow entry if residents do not arrive in a vehicle, even if they have a valid driver’s license and prescription. For the safety, health and security of staff and volunteers, patients must arrive by car.

Demand Response service limited to:
  - Shopping
  - Essential medical trips
  - Work related transportation

Shuffle Routes (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 ) still running normal schedule, limit of 5 passengers at a time for social distancing. Route 23: No 6:30 am run to RVCC as the college is closed.

Dialysis – Fully operational. Drivers are not allowed to enter dialysis, only to outside their door

No tickets, no receipts, no change, no bills for fares being accepted. No exchanges between passenger and driver to decrease potential risk between passengers and drivers.

One-Stop Career Center/Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Service Centers: WEBSITE
Because of the Coronavirus situation, the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Service Centers at 6 Gauntt Place in Flemington and 27 Warren St. in Somerville are closed to in-person visits. Staff will continue to assist customers over the phone and via email. Customers are asked to call 908-541-5780 or email onestop@co.somerset.nj.us for assistance.

In addition, the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center at 75 Veterans Memorial Drive in Somerville closed to the public at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18.

Customers who need to file new Unemployment Insurance claims are asked to apply online at: https://myunemployment.nj.gov.

Customers unable to access the Internet should call the following numbers: North Jersey, 201-601-4100; Central Jersey, 732-761-2020; Southern Jersey: 856-507-2340.

The state Department of Labor is taking steps to transition other services, including Temporary Disability Insurance, Family Leave Insurance and Workers Compensation, to online and telephone platforms.

OFFICE CLOSURE DUE TO COVID-19

May 01, 2020 PRESS: County Surrogate’s Court Open, Remote Processes Assist Families Through Pandemic

Effective March 18, 2020 the Hunterdon County Surrogate Court will be closed to the public. Staff will be on site, please call for information.

NEW OFFICE HOURS - EFFECTIVE MAY 26, 2020: 8:00am to 4:30pm - Monday through Friday

Surrogate Hoffman has made this decision to protect her employees and the employees in the Hunterdon County Justice Center.

Persons needing to use the Surrogate Court may contact the court as follows:

COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU TESTING SITE:

Somerset County and Hunterdon County, in collaboration with Raritan Valley Community College will be holding a COVID-19 drive-thru testing site on:

    • Thursday, May 28th
    • Tuesday, June 2nd
    • Thursday, June 4th

*Additional dates will be offered based on availability of test kits and personal protective equipment.

Testing is by appointment only and a valid doctor's prescription is required. Anyone without an appointment will be turned away. The testing site location is Raritan Valley Community College, 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg.
