| About Therapeutic Recreation |
What
is Therapeutic Recreation?
Therapeutic Recreation is provided by professionals who are educated, trained, and/or certified to provide recreational resources and opportunities to improve the health of persons with illnesses or disabling conditions. A Therapeutic Recreation Specialist plans, organizes, and implements recreation programs and adapts the programs to meet the needs of each individual. At the Department of Parks and Recreation in Hunterdon County, we provide two services: specifically designed Therapeutic Recreation programs and inclusive services. Inclusive services are available to assist individuals with disabilities with identifying programs, registration, and reasonable accommodation requests.
Please call the Hunterdon County Department of Parks and Recreation at (908) 782-1158 or email: parks@co.hunterdon.nj.us for more information concerning inclusive programs or if you require special accommodations.
