When are we going to start talking about mental illness? Do we not talk about it because we think it impacts other people or those types of people, or only happens in dysfunctional homes to bad parents? Do we not talk about it because it’s uncomfortable and (quite frankly) depressing and we’d rather focus on positive things? Sure, focusing on the positive is a great thing but, on the other hand, we cannot ignore this pervasive health issue that affects more people than most other medical disorders and yet . . . is talked about less and is sadly more misunderstood than any other disorder.
Do you think mental illness doesn’t affect you? Think again! The truth is it can happen to anyone and it does affect all of us in one way or another!
