Over several decades, many historic markers have been placed throughout Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission has been reviewing county-placed markers for historical accuracy, and inclusive, culturally sensitive language. From this effort, www.hunthistory.org was born.
This ADA-compliant website provides accurate, in-depth content to enhance the information provided on the markers. Sign riders with the site URL and a QR code assist on increasing the public's awareness of and engagement with local history.
PLEASE NOTE: This project is currently being revamped for the upcoming Semiqueincentennial! We appreciate your patience while this work is in progress. Applications for historic markers are currently suspended.
This project is made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
