In an effort to help teachers working with English Language Learners (ELLs), a small group of Hunterdon County English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers worked together to create this web resource. We hope that you will find this useful in your endeavors towards working with this diverse population of students.
This site is organized into several topics. First, you will find an overview section that focuses on ELLs and English language learning. Then, there are sections dedicated to Survival, Literacy, Numbers, Family, Community, Holidays, and other specific content areas. Within each section, you will find activities that a mainstream classroom teacher "CAN DO" within his or her classroom to help a new English learner. Also, you will find sample pull-out lessons for students of varying ages that are usually taught to ELLs in small groups or individually. Feel free to look at lessons outside of your grade levels; most of these lessons can be easily modified.
