Operation Helping Hand
What is Operation Helping Hand (OHH)?
Operation Helping Hand is a grant funded through the State of New Jersey Office of Attorney General whereby law enforcement officers play an active role in connecting clients suffering from opioid addiction with vital treatment, recovery and/or support services. A form of support service is the utilization of a recovery coach who is connected with a client to assist them with linkage to detox, treatment, aftercare, and reintegration into the community.
The collaboration between law enforcement officers, recovery specialists, and mental health/addiction professionals to connect individuals suffering from the disease of addiction to treatment and/or recovery support services in the battle to save lives and end the opioid crisis.
How we can help:
Link individuals to detox, treatment, aftercare, and reintegration into the community
- Assist with navigating community resources
- Assist individuals and families in need of guidance and support
- Provide 24/7 access to peer recovery coaches for community engagement
- Recovery planning
Who will I speak to when I call the recovery coach?
You will speak to a trained recovery coach who uses their own personal experiences, as well as yours, to determine the best course of action for your individual situation. Coaches are available 24/7 for immediate help for anyone suffering from addiction as well as family members and friends for support.
Coaches work with individuals beyond recovery initiation through stabilization and into recovery maintenance. They function as a guide to help with decision making and support steps toward recovery. Recovery coaches do not provide clinical services (primary treatment for addiction or diagnosis) and recognize that there are many pathways to recovery.
