Open Public Records Act (OPRA)
In accordance with the Open Public Records Act, The County of Hunterdon makes available its public records through formal requests to the County Counsel’s Office. Requests may be submitted using the below portal link.
Please be advised that not all governmental records can be obtained from the same place, and some may be accessible without having to submit an OPRA request. The information listed below will help guide you through the process.

Public Land Records: Recorded Deeds, Mortgages, Liens, etc. are found at the County Clerk's Office and are not provided through OPRA. You will need to contact the County Records Room at (908) 788-1217 or visit the County Clerk's Website directly to obtain this information.
Municipal Permits: HVAC, Plumbing, Zoning, Construction, Electrical, Certificate of Occupancy, Fire Inspections, etc. These records are maintained at the Municipal Level. Please contact the municipality in which the property is located in to determine the steps necessary to request this information from them. Tax Records: The County does not maintain property tax records, assessments, bills, invoices, etc. This information is handled at the Municipal level and you will need to contact the Municipality in which the property is located to determine the steps necessary to request this information from them. Vital Records: Marriage, Birth, and Death Certificates are all maintained by the Municipality in which the event occurred. To see a list of Municipalities in Hunterdon County please visit the following link: Municipal Contact Listing
Superior Court Records: Records pertaining to Divorce, Expungement, and Criminal Cases will need to be requested directly from the Court. To do so, use the following link: Superior Court Record Request
