Important Updates from the County Surrogate

OFFICE CLOSURE DUE TO COVID-19, Updated 05/22/2020

Effective March 18, 2020 the Hunterdon County Surrogate Court will be closed to the public. Staff will be on site, please call for information.

NEW OFFICE HOURS - EFFECTIVE MAY 26, 2020: 8:00am to 4:30pm - Monday through Friday

Surrogate Hoffman has made this decision to protect her employees and the employees in the Hunterdon County Justice Center.

Persons needing to use the Surrogate Court may contact the court as follows:

There will be a receptacle in the lobby of the Justice Center to deposit filings, documents, checks, etc. Documents can be dropped off between 9:00 and 4:00 on weekdays.

Title searchers can relay their search requests via telephone or email and the staff will assist them

Persons wanting to complete qualification documents will be instructed on how to complete by the Surrogate and Staff.

I apologize for any inconvenience and may we all stay safe.

PARKING CHANGES IN THE VICINITY OF HUNTERDON COUNTY JUSTICE CENTER:

Please note changes have taken effect to the parking areas around the Justice Center, they are as follows:

• Most of the parking on Park Avenue and Capner Streets, near the Justice Center, are now RESIDENTIAL PERMIT-PARKING ONLY.
• The change affects the west side of Park Avenue north of Capner Street, the north side of Capner Street heading west from Park Avenue, and the south side of Capner Street east of Park Avenue.
• There are still a few 15-minute spots on the west side of Park north of Capner Street for a home-operated business there.
