Oak Apple Gall

Insects choose a specific plant and lay eggs in plant tissue, causing a lump (gall) to form on the tree/plant. This is an Oak Apple Gall, caused by the Gall Wasp Amphibolips confluenta. The female wasp lays an egg in the developing leaf tissue.
