Rutgers Soil Testing Lab Operations: Rutgers Soil Testing Lab staff are at work, providing fee-for-service analysis of soil samples and generating reports/recommendations for all clients.

Visit our page How to Get Your Soil Tested, and find the appropriate Soil Sampling Instructions and Soil Test Questionnaire for your situation; see headings for different land use and crop scenarios. Read and follow the instructions; download and fill out the questionnaire; then send soil sample and questionnaire with payment to the lab by mail or delivery service, or drop off sample/questionnaire/payment at the lab as described below.

The Plant Diagnostic Laboratory is a full-service plant health diagnostic facility of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES). Our mission is to provide accurate and timely diagnoses of plant health problems for the residents of New Jersey.

Farm Certificates: (7/28/20) If you need to renew your Farm Certificate Application, please email us at kfrey@co.hunterdon.nj.us or call 908-788-1338 and provide the applicant name and email address.  We will send you a fillable PDF application to complete with instruction for getting your Farm Certificate.

ABOUT US

 
The agriculture and natural resources program provides information and educational programs related to commercial agriculture, professional horticulture, and environmental issues. Programs designed for farmers focus on farm production, farm profitability, integrated pest management (IPM), and applied agricultural research.   Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a management system that helps farmers anticipate and prevent pest problems from reaching damaging levels by using a wide range of control tactics.

This program offers educational and outreach on topics such as soil testing, identification of plant pests, agricultural marketing education, pesticide safety, farm management, farmer plate certificates and other land use topics. This program also offers publications on a wide range of agricultural, horticultural, and environmental subjects.

In Hunterdon County, the Rutgers NJAES agricultural agents specializes in tree fruit and specialty crops.  Agriculture and Natural Resources faculty  from other counties provide shared services by bringing expertise in other agriculture topics to Hunterdon County.
